Xibalba Slot Review
The word “Xibalba” might sound like complete gibberish to you but it could truly make you feel uneasy if you knew it roughly translates to “hell”. It’s a Mayan word and just like this title by Peter & Sons, it has to do with their ancient civilization.
The game sure looks peculiar, to say the least, but both the sounds and the visuals are top-notch, creating an immersive gaming experience. The reel set appears in front of what seems to be the entrance to something which we’ll go on a limp and say is the underworld. Lost souls in the form of people wearing animal masks and costumes are seen wandering the area. The logo of the game hangs from two lines of rope near the top left corner of the screen.
To be honest, all of the provider’s games share some fundamental style guidelines. Even if you don’t see it immediately we’re sure you’ll notice it at some point. This one resembles one of the supplier’s newest titles, “Book of Books”.
The slot in question, as we generally say at this point, isn’t for everyone. Undoubtedly though, it is a whole lot of fun and chances are you’ll have a blast playing it especially if you’re into such games. Moreover, it is a well-balanced game as it offers many cool features without however being cluttered. We genuinely had loads of fun testing and reviewing it.
How to play Xibalba
The slot was released near the end of 2021. Considering the studio was established in Armenia just a couple of years earlier, they did an amazing job to the point Xibalba is widely considered one of its best titles.
Xibalba features the classic 3-row 5-column reel layout but that’s just the basic form. Each win creates a tumbling feature that enlarges the playing area. It features 243 ways to win.
The UI is minimal as it offers all the necessary options neatly organized in what seems to be an area separate from the rest of the screen, color-coded red. The only option appearing on the actual game display is none other than the spin button.
Wagers start at 0.10$ and “climb” up to 50$ per spin. That alone means the game was developed with every type of player in mind, may that be a low or high roller, which is something we really appreciate. As for volatility, Xibalba is a high-variance game meaning big wins won’t come regularly but if they do, well, let’s just say you’re in for a lot of money!
And speaking of wild things, let’s take a look at the symbols. There are 10 regular, 5 low-paying basic ones, and 5 better-yielding represented by characters. The special symbols are:
- Wild – Represented by the snake head, the symbol will substitute for others to create or improve upon winning paylines and will continue to grow vertically as the reel on which it appears gets progressively taller.
- Scatter – Coming in the form of a gold coin, 2 or 3 scatters will trigger the according bonus features.

Xibalba Features
The gameplay is easy to understand. Wins trigger cascades and make the reels on which the winning symbols appear taller indefinitely. Also, each enlargement increases the win multiplier by 1x.
Getting 3 scatters will trigger the free spins mode awarding 15 free rounds. It can also be purchased for 77x the current stake.
The games play like normal but there is an unlimited increasing panel multiplier during cascades with growing falls. Re-spins with gigantic symbols can appear here as well. Growing wilds will stick in place and grow during cascades.
