Valkyries is a visually stunning online slot game developed by Peter & Sons. The game is based on the legendary female warriors of Norse mythology who choose who lives and dies in battle.

The game features beautiful graphics and animations that bring the mythical world of the Valkyries to life. However, once you launch the game, things take a weird turn. You see, this is a cartoon-like fairytale version of the old legends. The valkyries appear inside different colored frames while the whole display seems to be some scenery taken straight out of a muppet show or a shadow theatre.

You have to give it to the developer as they constantly dare to be unique. Thinking of a similar game is a challenging task. There are various slots featuring valkyries but none of them are presented in such a way or parallel to a magical audiovisual experience like this one.

Some people like classical music, some don’t, and the same applies to who this game is for, with the answer being “not everyone” and that is totally fine. That said, we would say you MUST give it a try as it’s honestly very unique, something we rarely get to see in the slot industry nowadays.

How to play Valkyries

The slot, just like one of the provider’s other hit titles Xibalba, was released near the end of 2021. In case you didn’t already know, the studio was established in Armenia a few years back and even though this title was the product of a collaboration between them and Yggdrasil, it still goes to show how incredibly gifted everyone at Peter & Sons is.

Now, regarding the actual gameplay, the slot Valkyries features the classic 3-row 5-column reel layout with 10 paylines.

The user interface is rather simple offering all the required controls in a red-colored region separate from the rest of the game screen. There you’ll find all the necessary buttons except for “spin” which is seen on the game’s actual display window.

Starting at 10 cents, bets “rise” up to 50 dollars per spin. That fact alone indicates that the game was created with all types of players in mind. It is marketed as a high-volatility game and we can vouch for that as based on our test the slot did pay very well but on rare occasions.

Now, having mentioned the basic info, let’s take a look at the symbols. There are the conventional 10-J-Q-K-A ones followed by the better-yielding valkyries (there are 4 of them!) and Odin, presumably. The special symbols are:

• Wild – Represented by Valkyrie helmets, there 2 such symbols that can appear. Each one appears according to certain conditions which are covered below. As always, wilds can substitute for most other symbols except the bonus/scatter.
• Scatter/bonus – Appearing in the form of a Norse winged rune (weird, we know!), getting 3 of these will trigger the special bonus feature.
