Inspired by the homonymous action film, the game is set high above the clouds close to sunset. Visual-wise there isn’t much more to talk about other than the logo which is located at the top and the controls at the bottom of the screen. Finally, the reels and control buttons are decorated with a thin golden border.
As for the mechanics, the slot features the classic reel after reel format without any animations available during the base game. It sure is unique as there aren’t other Top Gun-themed slots available at the time of this writing.

How to Play Top Gun
The game features 3 lines and 5 reels. However, it is equipped with the 243 all-ways-win format which is something Playtech doesn’t offer regularly on their slots. Regarding the controls, from left to right you’ll find the info section, the 243 ways indicator, total bet selection, last win amount, autoplay function, and last, the spin button. Once again, Playtech doesn’t offer extra autoplay parameters or a quickspin feature.
The bet limits start at $0.25 and can go up to $125. The medium volatility of the game will result in regular but small wins.
However, during our test and after only 10 spins we activated both of the available features which awarded us with $262 which is more than 1,000x the minimum bet that was used in the spin that triggered it.
The game is equipped with 6 low-paying and 5 high-paying symbols. Starting with the lower-paying ones, there are card values J-A, aviator sunglasses, and jacket. The high-paying symbols are characters from the movie. These are Stinger, Jasper, Goose, Iceman, and the highest rewarding one, Charlie.
Moving on to the special symbols, you can expect to find the following two:
- Wild – The wild symbol is the Top Gun logo. It substitutes all other symbols except for the scatter to form winning combinations.
- Scatter – The scatter symbol is a fighter jet. It can land anywhere on reels 1, 3, 5. It activates the “Danger Zone” free games.

This Playtech slot is equipped with only two bonus features. Don’t be discouraged though because these can turn out to be extremely rewarding as they were during our test.
This is a mystery feature that can be activated at any point during the base game and the free spins. Your wingman will join the game and randomly select between 1-15 symbol spaces on the reels, transforming them into wilds while they are still spinning.
Also, any scatter symbols that may be covered by the appearing wilds will still count towards the Danger Zone free games.
This feature activates if the scatter symbols lands simultaneously on reels 1, 3, and 5. You will be rewarded with 8 free games.
Each round’s wins will be calculated individually. The chance of triggering the Dogfight Wilds is increased and the number of appearing wild symbols is enhanced compared to that of the base game spins.
