Devour The Weak Slot Review
Developed by the one and only Yggdrasil Gaming, Devour the Weak is a game that has no reason to envy any other. Drawing inspiration from the underworld, the realm where a whole bunch of demonic entities torture unfortunate souls, the slot manages to create a unique and intense gaming experience combining mythology and history with modern slot mechanics.
With bubbling lava glimmering in between jagged rocks that stretch deep into the horizon, the game’s backdrop is reminiscent of the modern depiction of the underworld. The high-quality graphics look like they came out of an Iron Maiden album cover. The whole atmosphere becomes even spookier thanks to the game’s audio.
At this point we’d like to mention how the underworld theme isn’t new to Yggdrasil Gaming as many various previous games by them dabble in the same genre. “Hades Gigablox” and “Champion of the Underworld” are two perfectly good examples. If you’re looking for a similar experience but from a different provider we’d recommend NoLimit’s “Blood & Shadow” as well as “Stormforged” by Hacksaw Gaming.
You may be wondering “Who is this game really for” and we are here to answer. Devour the Weak is tailored for players keen on high-volatility slots. The super high variance rating means that you’re going to get fewer wins but with the potential of them being significantly bigger.
How to play Devour The Weak
The game was released on the first Q2 of 2023, on April 27th, and quickly caught on with the rest of the competitions. It features a 5-reel setup with each reel consisting of 3 symbols. Instead of the classic payline system, any matching symbols on at least 3 subsequent reels, starting from the first left one, form a win. In total, there are 243 paylines.
Devour the Weak has a fairly usable UI that adheres to the classic Yggdrasil format. The controls including the spin button, bet adjustment, paytable, and autoplay function are all thoughtfully positioned so that players can easily spot and use them.
As for the stakes, bets range from $0.10 up to $100 per spin. A “Golden Bet” option is also offered which, when activated, will increase your stake by half while resulting in more hexed symbols on the reels as well as an additional free spin.
The game features low-paying symbols represented by J-A playing card values while the high-paying symbols are represented by four main characters. The wild symbol carries the same value as the top high-paying symbol but can also substitute for any other regular one.

Devour The Weak Features
A testament to Yggdrasil’s ability to create interesting and visually stunning titles, Devour the Weak and its underworld theme, high volatility, and great features set players up for an amazing session. Let’s check those fine features out!
Next to the reels you’ll find a multiplier trail. Each winning combination that subsequently gets “devoured” will add to that trail. Accumulating 6 points will increase the multiplier which can reach a multiplier of 666x (the number of the beast!).
Sometimes symbols will appear with an orb overlay. These are referred to as hexed symbols. Winning hexed symbols turn to wilds and contribute to the free spins meter. Getting 6 winning hexed symbols in a single round (dropdowns included) will trigger the feature awarding 10 free spins. During the free spins, any hexed symbols that appear on the middle reel will instantly turn wild. Also, the multiplier starts at x6 rather than the usual base game x1.
Players have the option to directly access the bonus round by paying a fee of 100x bet which will grant 10-13 free spins with a x6 multiplier. Also, something we find a bit cheeky, is that you can pay 666x your stake for 14-17 free spins and a starting multiplier of 33x.
