Aztec Spins Slot Review

Travel to ancient Mexico and join the Aztec tribe. Learn about their way of life by experiencing daily rituals. Spin the Aztec wheel for a chance to win part of the abundant treasure!

Starting with the visuals, the game features a background of some Aztec structure ruins. The reels are placed on top of a spinning wheel and are encased in a gold gem-decorated border. The logo of the game can be found right above them.

Mechanics-wise, the slot mostly follows the classic format as all the reels start spinning together. However, the third and fourth reel stop together rather than individually as the others do. Any symbols participating in winning paylines will become animated while also triggering a quick audio effect.

The game’s theme sure has been overused over the last few years but if you just can’t get enough of it we’d also recommend you check out Booongo’s “Aztec Sun” but for now let’s take a look at how Aztec Spins works.

How to Play Aztec Spins

The slot has 4 rows and 6 reels with 30 fixed paylines. The basic controls are located below the reels allowing you to change bet size or enable the autoplay function. Other customization options can be accessed via the header control bar or the in-game menu.

The lowest amount you can bet is $0.20 and you can go as high as $20 on each spin.

Aztec Spins is a high volatility game meaning infrequent but big wins are most likely that regular small ones. That said, the paylines pay both ways so you can win up to 4,983x your total stake. As result, one spin could award almost $100,000!

In the slot, you’ll find 5 low-paying and 5 high-paying symbols. The first are displayed as card values 10 – A while the latter come in the form of an eye, an Aztec wearing a tiger’s head, two snakes, an Aztec head statue, and a gold Aztec pyramid.

The game doesn’t feature wilds or scatters as the only special symbol is:

  • Aztec wheel – A 2×2 Aztec wheel that can only appear in reels 3 and 4. If it appears fully visible it awards a spin in the Aztec wheel which is located behind the reels.

Aztec Spins Features

This slot is fairly different from what you’re accustomed to. Due to the absence of a wild symbol, Red Tiger has decided to incorporate a few other highly rewarding bonus features. Let’s take a closer look at each of them.

Locked Symbols

If the Aztec wheel stops on a symbol then reels 3 and 4 will be filled with that symbol.  Every instance of that symbol will remain in place until a win occurs. Any identical symbols that appear in the respins will also be locked onto the reels until you get a winning spin.

Locked Symbols
Stacking Multiplier

This awards a 10x multiplier which applies to the next payline win. If the player lands on the Aztec wheel, spins, and gets the 10x multiplier again then these are added up to a maximum of 30x. If the multiplier reaches 30x, that option on any subsequent Aztec wheel spins will be replaced with a wheel respin.

Stacking Multiplier
Free Spins

If the Aztec wheel stops on “Free Spins” during the base game, the player is awarded 12 free spins. The Aztec wheel feature is more likely to trigger in the free spins. If the player lands on the same option during the feature, he will be awarded an extra 6 free spins.
