Belatra Games welcomes you to the north pole in this quite simply, wonderful game. Don’t worry though, the wildlife isn’t extinct but it may seem so as the cartoonish characters won’t scare you at all.

Straight away, players will note the childish layout of this unique slot that easily stands out from the rest of the competition. It just is so playful and yet so interesting. Let’s start with the visuals. The reels appear in front of icy columns with pieces of iceberg hanging from the top. On top of the reel set, you’ll notice the 4 progressive slot jackpots.

The visuals reminded us of Amusnet Interactive’s (EGT) “Penguin Style” but regarding the gameplay, the slot weirdly plays like Pragmatic Play’s “Aztec Blaze”. The north pole theme used to be much more popular in the old days but now games like this one are a luxury for those of us who have loads of experience with slot machines.

How to play Northern Boom

This game does partly follow the fundamental characteristics found in the majority of Belatra Games but with a modern twist. Symbols of penguins with sexy underwear might look weird at first but you’ll get used to it fairly quickly. In fact, you’ll like it more as you get into the session.

The slot is based on the traditional 3-row, 5-reel arrangement which, if it wasn’t for the rest of the game, would make things dull. The UI follows the same old pattern as you can easily access the basic controls (spin, bet adjustment, autoplay with various parameters) that are neatly organized at the base of the screen. The table of information and various settings are located at the top right corner.

Given the 25 payline format, bets start at 0.25$ but you can stake as much as 50$ per spin. Moving on to the more technical stuff, Northern Boom is a slot of medium to high variance meaning that despite the playful looks, wins won’t come easy but they will be rather big.

As we move deeper into the gameplay, it’s about time we tackled the symbols. There are 8 regular ones with just 3 low-paying (shovel, anchor, bottle) and 5 high-paying ones that come in the form of a crab, a rather sensual penguin, a seal, a submarine, and a fish wearing a fur hat. The special symbols are:
