Immortal Romance Slot Review
There are few online slots which are as iconic or as globally popular as Microgaming’s Immortal Romance. The game still sets the benchmark high for all other vampire-themed games to follow, and few (we would argue) have managed to surpass it, save, perhaps, for NetEnt’s original Bloodsuckers slot.
Despite the two games being themed on vampires, they have wholly different imagery and features. Both are well worth a punt. However, Microgaming’s Immortal Romance is arguably the most famous of the two. It has a theme which loosely resembles Twilight or the True Blood series, while its NetEnt counterpart is more commonly tied to Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles or other realistic vampire franchises.
The Immortal Romance game is most known for its progressively unlockable free spin rounds, its random features, and (like Thunderstruck II) being one of the first 243 ways to win slots to ever see the light of day. While these qualities may have faded in recent years, the reputation and playability of this vampire game have not.
How to Play Immortal Romance
As mentioned, there are 243 lines spanning Immortal Romance’s 5 reels. You are not going to be able to alter these lines independently.
However, you can still place bets which range from 0.30 up to 300.00 a turn here.
Spinning the reels of this game could see you hope to land prizes worth up to 1,500x a bet in all. This will equate to 3,645,000 coins if you strike it lucky.
Immortal Romance is a slot which remains medium to low variance to play and has an RTP of 96.86%. It has lots of thematic symbols based on characters in the game, including Troy, Amber, Sarah and Michael. It also has two special symbols which are worth noting. They include:
- Wilds – The Immortal Romance logo appears as a wild, and it can substitute for all, save for scatters.
- Scatters – Lion’s head door knockers are scatters. Land three or more on the reels to trigger the game’s free spin round.

Immortal Romance Slot Features
Immortal Romance was one of the first casino games to introduce us to the 5-reel, 243-line format. However, it also brought randomly triggered bonuses and progressive, unlockable features. Here is what you can expect to see in the slot:
Chamber of Spins
The main free spin bonus is triggered by landing three, four or five lion’s head symbols on the reels. You will be stuck playing Amber’s bonus to kick-off with. However, as you trigger the round 5, 10 or 15 times, you can unlock the other modes. Once you have unlocked them all, you can pick whichever free game mode suits you. These include:
- Amber: You will get ten free games with a 5x multiplier applied to anything you win.
- Troy: Here, you will receive fifteen spins, during which vampire bats can appear at random and turn symbols into 2x or 3x multipliers.
- Michael: Once activated, you will receive 20 games, during which Microgaming’s much-loved Rolling Reels feature will provide multiplier stretching from 1x up to 5x for consecutive wins.
- Sarah: The final round offers 25 spins with a Wild Vine modifier. This can see Wild Vines appear on the third reel turn other symbols into wilds.
You will be able to land further scatters on the reels while each mode is in play. These can add 1, 2, 3 or 4 turns to your tally when 2, 3, 4 or 5 lion’s head scatters appear on the screen in each round.
