Firestorm Slot Review

Firestorm has been developed by Quickspin. This game plays fast and loose with a rudimentary Aztec theme and does not necessarily deliver the highest quality of graphics ever seen in an online gambling game. Nor does the game provide a wealth of special features which many of you may be craving. However, there are perks to be had if you know where to look.

Firestorm is one of the few, modern low-variance games you can come across right now, with most other developers opting for highly volatile releases. On top of that, this mild Aztec-themed game can deliver decent enough prizes in relation to the amount you will be betting. Firestorm is still quite some way off other popular titles, such as NetEnt’s Gonzo’s Quest, but there are highlights and a mild degree of excitement to be had all the same.

Unlike some of its counterparts, Firestorm does not have a lot of depth to it. You can learn seemingly everything you need to know about the slot in a matter of minutes. There is just one primary bonus round, and this helps to make the Quickspin game ideal for new players. Veteran slot players are unlikely to feel particularly exciting about that singular bonus.

How to Play Firestorm

Firestorm uses a series of colourful images as its paying icons. These include gemstones. The better-paying symbols have bronze, silver, and gold trims, while the backdrop is designed to mimic a decaying Aztec temple. Arguably the most thematic inclusion in the title, though, is the soundtrack.

Having a punt on Firestorm will cost you between 0.25 and 250.00 a turn.

This is to be expected, given that there are 5 reels and 25 lines in play. None of those paylines can be adjusted. Bets are fair, especially when you factor in that the non-progressive jackpot is worth up to a thousand times a bet. As mentioned, this is a low volatile release, so wins should come thick and fast, even if they will not be the most extensive jackpots you have ever seen.

To help you with snapping up those wins, there are a few special symbols. Notably, no scatters or bonus icons appear here, but there are two wilds. They include:

  • Wild – A standard wild will not impress many. It can substitute for all standard paying icons as you would expect.
  • Burning Mask Wild – The game’s Burning Mask wild is more valuable. As well as replacing other symbols, it can also activate a re-spin bonus when two or more appear on the reels.

Firestorm Slot Features

One thing that Firestorm is woefully lacking is a decent set of bonuses. There is a Burning Mask re-spin mode, but that is about all you are going to find. Not even a conventional free spin round gets a look in here. So, what can you expect from this game’s solitary feature?

Burning Mask Re-Spin Mode

Once activated, any Burning Mask wilds which you used to trigger the round will lock into place. A random symbol will also be chosen, alongside conventional wilds to remain in their places. Each reel will then re-spin and will continue to do so if either Burning Mask wilds, standard wilds or the selected symbols appear. The more re-spins and masks you land, the higher the multiplier you will receive. These can be worth 2x the rate of pay for just two masks, rising to 5x multipliers for six such symbols. This is all very standard stuff and will be unlikely to impress the most hardened slot players, who have come to expect more, even from low variance games such as this.
