Extra Chilli Slot Review
Extra Chilli was one of the very first MegaWays games to debut from Big Time Gaming. In many ways, this game could be seen as the tester for what would go on to be a globally popular genre of slots. The Mexican-themed slot provides spicy gameplay, offers hot prizes, and can be readily found across the internet.
Visually, Extra Chilli is a very colourful game. Set amidst a market square, this slot is all about a chilli stall and the fiery ingredients a trader sells. If that sounds rather dull, just bear in mind that this is a MegaWays release, so the graphics and storytelling are not as important as the features.
If you have played a MegaWays game before, you will instantly recognise the format. Most BTG games (and those from other providers) use the 6-reel structure, with an added row of symbols below them. Bonanza, Holy Diver, White Rabbit and Who Wants to be a Millionaire all use similar engines and features and are worth a look.
Extra Chilli is the first explorer in the world of MegaWays slots, so for that reason alone, it is worth a punt. Playing one of the games where it all began is one reason to play this release. How to Play Extra Chilli
Like most MegaWays slots, Extra Chilli has been designed to be fully mobile-friendly. Bold bet, autoplay and re-spin buttons can make short work of spinning this game’s reels.
There are six of those (and one underneath), with symbols of varying sizes appearing on the random number of lines (up to 117,649) on each spin.
The symbols which appear on the reels are a touch on the bland side. Purple, red, blue, and green chillies pay decent prizes in comparison to the high-playing card symbols. However, BTG has chosen to be less adventurous with the jackpot in this game, in comparison to later MegaWays slots.
A few special symbols make their way into Extra Chilli, and they bring added features to the table, such as…
- Wild – Fireworks only appear on the bottom reel, but can replace all others in the game, save for the scatters.
- Scatter – Keep an eye out for the H, O and T symbols. These icons can appear anywhere on the screen and getting all three activates the game’s primary bonus.

Extra Chilli Slot Features
If you have played MegaWays slots before, you will be aware of the cascading or collapsing reels feature. Known as “reactions” in this game, it can see winning symbols removed from the reels, and new ones take over. This will keep happening following any win until no new wins are possible.
On the right-hand side of the reels is the Feature Drop meter. It drops by two coins when you land a gold symbol on the reels.
You can also trigger the bonus when it reaches zero. However, the price you see on the meter is what it will cost you if you wish to purchase the bonus directly.
Note that buying the bonus offers you a better RTP (96.82% as opposed to the default 96.15%), but it is quite an expensive toy to use
Getting the H, O and T scatters to appear will trigger an initial eight free games. Every extra scatter you land offers you four more.
Before the round, you can choose to gamble those on a wheel for fortune. Up to 24 free games can be won, or you could lose the lot.
Once the free spin mode begins, the cascading/collapsing reels or reactions dynamic takes on a new mode – multipliers. These are uncapped and rise by 1x with every win. Firework pots provide added spins in the feature.
