Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Slot Review

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is one of the most successful slots to ever appear on television. It has already appeared several times as a casino game. Big Time Gaming’s version is the only real one to bring the heart-stopping action to your screen, though.

Unlike its predecessors, BTG’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire slot is a MegaWays game, it offers highly volatile action, and manages to weave in a few elements of the original show. While there are similarities between this game and those which have come before it, it is BTG’s other MegaWays titles, such as Extra Chilli which this game has most in common with.

Graphically, the game is almost a carbon copy of that hit show it is themed on. Everything from the purple colouration to the text boxes, the hot seat, and money ladder (which serves an interesting feature in this game) and the music is right on cue. If that does not get you to want to play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, not much will.

How to Play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire has been designed to be mobile-friendly, so big, bold buttons can be used to adjust your stake, autoplay turns and check out the paytable. Like most MegaWays games, there is not really a whole lot for you to tinker with, save for your bet.

The six-reel game (seven if you count the set of symbols underneath) features a random number of lines on each turn, with up to 117,649 winning paylines possible.

As with most of Big Time Gaming’s MegaWays games, this one is a highly volatile release, so while wins are extravagant, they do not tend to appear frequently. The more you wager, the closer you will get to those top prizes, with bets typically stretching from 0.20 up to 10.00.

The imagery is sort of out of place in this game, with diamonds, and other geometrically shaped gemstones and high playing cards representing the kind of dull symbols we do not want to see in a casino title.

There are two far more impressive symbols to land in this game. They include:

  • Wild – The multicoloured wheel (with a question mark) is a wild, and it can substitute for all barring scatters. Note that wilds only appear on the “extra” reel which runs below the main reel set.
  • Scatter – The Who Wants to Be a Millionaire logo is the scatter, and it can trigger Hot Seat Free Spins bonus if three or more appear.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Slot Features

Of course, the most obvious feature in this game is the collapsible reel feature that you get with all MegaWays slots. However, there is one added perk, and that is the Hot Seat Free Spins bonus. The latter adds that Who Wants to Be a Millionaire element to this release, and is truly heart-in-mouth stuff if you go all in. Let us find out why…

MegaWays - Collapsing Reels

On each spin, up to 117,649 ways to win will appear at random. Should you land a win using the symbols (which can appear stacked), those symbols will disappear, and new ones drop down. This will continue until no new MegaWays wins are formed. All MegaWays slots have this, so it is nothing new.

Hot Seat Free Spins Bonus

You will start out on a gambling ladder. The number of scatters you acquired determines your place on this ladder. With just three scatters, you start at the bottom, which offers eight free spins.

Now, you can choose to play those spins straight away, or you can opt to gamble them. If you opt for the latter, you’ll be asked to pick between A, B, C or D, and you do have the famous:

  • Phone-a-Friend,
  • 50/50,
  • Ask the Audience lifelines to help you.

If you get the question wrong, you lose your spins. If you are brave enough to gamble, you could win much more. This is truly adrenaline-pumping stuff, and the atmosphere and sense of tension are ramped up by the infamous music.

Once the spins do begin (provided you have kept them or increased the number of them), you will note that a 1x multiplier will increase by 1x with each collapsing win that you land. There is no cap on how high this MegaWays multiplier can rise, and you can land between 4 and 8 spins extra spins by landing three and four scatters on the reels.
