Double Dragons Slot Review

Travel to a mythical realm where two dragons have been wreaking havoc all over the land turning it into a destroyed wasteland. Will you be able to collect the dragon heads needed to activate the bonuses? Start spinning to find out!

The player is immediately greeted with a visually stunning background of a wasteland filled with enormous tooth-shaped rocks and an ominous cloudy sky. Due to its theme, every visual part of the slot is divided into two equally sized parts, one being blue and the other red, each of them representing the associated dragon.

The game’s dashboard features a bronze border decorated with various patterns as well as two dragon heads meeting in the middle of the top part of the screen. At the left, you will also see a 4-level bar while at the right a series of empty holes.

Double Dragons is an interesting slot filled with stunning animations and immersive features ranging from stacking wilds to rolling reels.

Adding to this, the reels hide many more bonuses that the players have to unveil. Lucky for you, we won’t spare any detail. Let’s take a look at how the game is played.

How to Play Double Dragons

The game has 3 lines and 5 reels with 25 paylines. The controls are found at the bottom of the screen as with most Yggdrasil slots. Starting from left to right, you’ll find the lines indicator, coin value, cash/coin bet, max bet option, spin button, autoplay function, last win amount, and finally, your current balance. The sounds, spin speed, and autoplay settings can be further tweaked by using the in-game menu.

The bet limits start at $0.25 (just one cent per line) while the maximum is a hefty $125 (or $5 per line). The developer states the game has medium to high volatility but during our test spins we’d say it leans more to the medium side.

Bonus features activate on a fairly regular basis and the maximum possible win is $100,000!

The main game consists of 4 low-paying and 4 high-paying symbols. The former is portrayed by card suits of the red, blue, green, and purple color (one for each suit). The latter consist of four visually different dragon eyes of the same previously mentioned colors. The purple is the highest paying one which is easy to remember as it’s the only eye whose iris is horizontal rather than vertical.

Moving on to the special symbols you’ll find:

  • Wild – It substitutes other symbols to create winning combinations. They are portrayed as a part of a dragon’s body.
  • Dragon heads – They act as regular wilds but each one has special features.

Double Dragons Features

The game has its fair share of bonus features to offer all of which have an equal factor. This is of course the dragon symbols. Let’s take a look at each feature.

Rolling Reels

The slot is equipped with the rolling reels feature. This means that for every spin that wins, the participating symbols will be destroyed while others will fill in the space. This can stack up to 4 consecutive times. Each time a level of the bar will be filled and once it’s full, the Double Dragons feature will activate.

Rolling Reels
Double Dragons Feature

Once you get 4 consecutive wins, the feature will be activated. During it, a blue dragon and a red dragon wild will appear on two different reels. These can be anywhere from 7 to 28 wilds tall.

Double Dragons Feature
Dragon Heads

Just like the regular wilds, dragon heads can appear at any point in the game. They do act as normal wilds but each of them has a unique effect. These are:

  • Blue Dragon head

Each one that appears will multiply the drop-down win by 2. This applies only to the current drop down and not to new symbols appearing due to the rolling reels feature.

There can be up to five heads appearing in a drop-down win with a possible multiplier of 32x.

  • Red Dragon head

Each red dragon head that appears on any reels will create 2-3 regular red dragon wilds at any non-wild positions. This will only be done if there are available spaces.

Free Spins

This consists of 9 free spins. During this feature, instead of 4 consecutive wins, you’ll only need 2 to activate the Double Dragons feature.

However, if you activate both dragons at the same time, then priority will be given to the red dragon free spins which will be followed by the blue dragon free spins. The free spins feature can’t be reactivated during the free spins.
