Superheroes

Superheroes Themed Slots

Want to escape a bit of realism and join the world of fantasy? Superheroes/comic slots are what you need. Drawing inspiration from comic books, TV shows, and movies, the slot machines take players to an adventure where nothing is impossible. Imagine finding Superman, Ironman, Wolverine, Captain America, Spiderman, Thor, among other superheroes, on the slots? While they may not save your city, they may save you some bucks should the slot win!

The slot world dominates the gaming scene, and many are impressed with the diversity of the themes. A range of themes, including Greek mythology, Egyptian, Asian, pirates, TV shows, and Halloween, are available. But, there is more. There have been several remakes and rebooks of popular comic books led by big companies such as Marvel and DC Comics in recent years. The aim has always been to have the products making into the TV and films. What thrills fans on the superheroes movies is that there is no world of impossibility. You come across characters who transform into giant figures, change their colors, lift mountains, travel back into time, fly over buildings, have supernatural powers, etc. This is what inspires comic slots.

The plots remain the same and are action-filled, with the battles between heroes and villains all captivating. Through Marvel and DC Comics, there have been plentiful superheroes slots released, and as advancements go on, the visuals, graphics, and audio effects have become better with time. The massive following comes from the relatable characters, making the gaming experience entertaining and engaging.

While the endgame in all the slots is getting prizes, the developers bring a different twist. It is not always about assuming the role of a superhero to save the day and the city. In some slots, the player might take the role of the supervillain being hunted. In addition, the companies behind the comic movies and films allow crossovers, an idea that the software providers also incorporate. As a result, you are likely to find some characters from one comic book appearing in another.

Brief Background of the Genre

Loads of sources place the origin of comic books in Japan in the 18th century. However, they would become popular in the US and the UK in the 30s. The first comic book, The Yellow Kid in McFadden’s Flats, was published in 1897, featuring black and white reprints. More comic books would come later, including Mutt & Jeff, The Katzenjammer Kids, Buster Brown, and Happy Hooligan. In 1922, Comics Monthly, a monthly comic book, would start coming up, and like the rest, it featured reprints of newspaper comic strips. It would take until 1933 before the first color comic book came by.

In 1935, National Allied Publications, later DC Comics, would publish the first company’s comic book, New Fun #3, with Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel beginning to work on the book in October the same year. The duo would later be the creators of Superman. In 1938, there was Action Comics #1, with the debut of Superman. Less than a year later would be Batman premier in Detective Comics #27. In 1939, Timely Publications, later Marvel, released Marvel Comics #1. More comics would come up in the subsequent years featuring Captain Marvel, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Flash, Batman, Captain America, etc. As years went by, more developments came by, including the transition from comic books to movies.

To date, more releases are done yearly by the companies, making the fans feel a part of it. From the movies came the gaming part, where providers such as Playtech and Cryptologic partnered with Marvel Studios to create Marvel slots. Other big-name companies would also partner with DC Comics to have slots inspired by their characters released. However, in 2017, Marvel would not renew their contract with Playtech after the acquisition of Marvel by Disney. Playtech would then forge a partnership with Warner Brothers to have them release DC Comic slots.

Fact: Following the contract non-renewal between Marvel Entertainment and Playtech in 2017, there has not been any further Marvel comic slots release, and Marvel slots have not been in circulation.

What Defines Comic Slots?

As the name suggests, these are slots inspired by popular comic books and feature superheroes as the main characters. These slots come with all sorts of imaginations and fantasy to entertain players. The superheroes carry the day with sanity restored after attacks from the supervillains. This pits them as action-filled slots that keep players at the edge of their chairs.

Besides that, characters on the slots define them. These slots let players rub shoulders with Batman, Antman, the Flash, Superman, Spiderman, Ironman, Wonder Woman, Wolverine, and any other superhero they are fans of. At the same time, the villain as depicted in comic books, movies, or films are on board, and so are the trademark weapons of the superheroes. For example, one will encounter Mjollnir, Thor’s hammer, Captain America’s shield, and more.

Next in line are the storylines. They are diverse on each slot, but one thing is constant – one may be the superhero or the villain on any slot. There are also visual and audio aspects to any game. The developers look to remake every comic book, movie, or film in the best possible way. Therefore, the visuals and audio effects are high-quality, with sophisticated bonus features awaiting. Lastly, most comic slots fall under the video slots category.

Features of Superheroes Slots

A quick fact worth noting is that most slots themed from superheroes are video slots. However, there are a few superhero classic slots in circulation. The rule of thumb for any avid gambler is that they stand a better ground when claiming bonus features on video slots. This is because providers look to topple each other, and as a result, more sophisticated bonus features keep appearing. While each slot may present unique features, the common ones in many include:

  • Wilds & Scatters
  • Progressive Jackpots (Both Marvel and DC Comics have a progressive jackpot network that has the grand prizes increasing whenever one plays a slot from the network)

Return to Player

Besides the bonus features, the return to player (RTP) rate is vital in determining what the player expects on the slot. The RTP, expressed in percentage, provides an idea of the payout the player expects on a winning bet from the slot. Slots with 95%+ are an excellent shout since they pay £95+ on a £100 bet if the gambler hits the right combination on the reels. In a nutshell, the higher the RTP, the higher the payout.

Are Comic Slots available for Mobile Devices?

It is worth noting that many providers are incorporating HTML5 technology while creating their games. The shift is due to many smartphone users, and for their convenience, the providers ensure they can gamble through their mobile devices any time, anywhere. For this reason, most comic slots are available for mobile devices using popular operating systems, including iOS, Android, and Windows. One needs only to launch their browsers and access the games instantly without any further download requirement.
