IGT History

IGT was established in 1971 when it was known as A-1 Distribution Company. They were known for dealing with video poker machines in land-based casinos. In 1981, the company changed its name to International Game Technology (IGT) and in 1984, it made its entry into the slot machines business. This phase saw slots such as the Nevada Megabucks slot released. In the 90s, the company was making moves in the industry and this included its listing on the New York Stock Exchange. In 1996, the company completed one major milestone after debuting the progressive slot Wheel of Fortune.

IGT continued making innovative products until 2005 when it acquired WagerWorks, a company under Silicon Gaming, which was also a slot manufacturer company. After the acquisition, WagerWorks-IGT would work under IGT. This partnership would make greater market strides with more titles being produced and distributed. The online gambling aspect was also brought into the picture with the transformation of the land slots into an online format.

As it progressed, the company’s access expanded from the US and expanded into jurisdictions such as Canada, the UK, Mexico, China, and many other countries. To put it into perspective, IGT boasts 450+ different state, provincial, national, and tribal licences with the popular ones including:

  1. UK Gambling Commission
  2. Malta Gaming Authority
  3. Alderney Gambling Control Commission
  4. Nevada Gaming Control Board
  5. New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement

Additionally, it ensures that players can enjoy a fast experience and improved interactivity with the products.

What’s more, as a top-quality gaming provider it has boasted superior quality graphics, themes, unique sound effects that create a great atmosphere, a user-friendly interface, special features, and top-level security. The aforementioned aspects have seen a huge customer base attracted and retained.

Additionally, the convenience of accessing IGT titles on PC and mobile phones has been another major highlight. With regular game updates and unrivalled innovation, IGT is scoring highly in the product field. IGT has majored on the slots (land-based and online) and has incorporated lottery games, video poker games, and also offers B2B sports betting technology (PlaySports) to power FanDuel online and mobile betting sportsbook.

IGT Slot Machines

IGT has for years been recognized as the largest slot machines provider and, unsurprisingly, this is the widest section. As stated, the provider has reigned supreme in crucial aspects such as the graphics quality complemented with aspects such as engaging themes and captivating soundtracks to keep the players entertained. What’s more, IGT slot games can be played for free or for real money.

The fact that there is a blend of slots including branded slots and huge-paying progressive jackpots makes IGT slot games special. These have been the major selling points and leading the list of the branded slots include Monopoly, Wheel of Fortune, and Star Trek.

Players can also expect classics and video slots on the IGT software collection. The slots come in different pay lines, reels, and bet sizes.

IGT Themes

Themes are some of the aspects that keep players coming back. Aside from enjoying the quality experience, most of the players relate to the various themes. With a variety of themes, catering to each player’s taste seems achievable and this is another section that IGT has got right. One is bound to come across these themes in the IGT game collection:

The features offered at IGT slot games add more weight to their quality. Besides the graphics, soundtracks, and different styles, IGT slots offer comprehensive features. Special symbols including wilds and scatters are available. A good combination or a strategic positioning of these symbols can trigger several features including:

Progressive Jackpot

IGT is home to one of the biggest progressive jackpot networks, MegaJackpots. The network consists of slot games including Cleopatra, Monopoly, Cluedo, Wolf Run and Siberian Storm.

With progressive jackpots, there exist no fixed payouts. The jackpot’s highest payout prize will rise after every play. The jackpot will reset to its starting prize after a win is recorded. For the IGT MegaJackpots network, the prize resets to £1.5 million which is huge.

Payouts and Volatility

Online gambling gets interesting after landing on a payout and for this, one has to be cautious about the game they choose. Each IGT game will have a paytable that provides information ranging from the bet sizes (min and max), max payout, RTP, and volatility. RTP is simply the Return to Player rate that represents the likely payout value from the game. Each slot game’s RTP rate will vary but those with RTP rates going above 95% signify good returns.

Volatility represents each game’s risk. Games providing fewer but huge payouts are classified as high-volatile games while those providing regular but low-value payouts are low-volatile games. Game volatility is crucial in bankroll management.
