Survivor MegaWays Slot Review
If you grew up in the late 90s and early 2000s then you will surely remember Survivor. The desert island contest was one of the first reality television shows, and this is BTG’s attempt at keeping it relevant two decades later. If you remember the earlier seasons, you might recognise a few of the symbols on the reels, too.
The good thing about Big Time Gaming’s Survivor MegaWays game is that you do not necessarily have to remember the show to enjoy the game. It uses largely the same MegaWays mechanic which appears in BTG’s other slots and certainly has decent prizes to be won, albeit through highly volatile gameplay.
There are similarities with plenty of those MegaWays games, although we like to think that Survivor MegaWays is a touch easier to play – it is more basic than some of its modern counterparts.
How to Play Survivor MegaWays
Survivor MegaWays is a bit naughty. It does not use entirely the same engine as its sister slots. In fact, the maximum number of lines in this BTG game is capped at 100,842, some seventeen thousand fewer than most others. Moreover, the game still commands a 0.20 – 20.00 bet per spin and is highly volatile.
With a stroke of luck, Survivor MegaWays players could potentially walk away with a non-progressive jackpot which is just shy of 40,000x their bet.
It is a tall order, but not outside the realms of possibility. You can forget about the high playing card symbols as these will do little to help you win. However, the tiki masks are far more valuable, and the purple ones can yield wins worth up to 50x a bet.
Next, let us look at the two main characters, as they spice things up.
- Wild – The two tribal leaders (red and blue) act as wilds, and wild multipliers at that. These can boost winnings by multipliers once urns appear on the reels.
- Scatter – The Survivor MegaWays logo will activate the spin bonus when three or more appear.

As mentioned, there are wilds, wild multipliers, and scatters, as well as a free spin bonus in the Survivor MegaWays game. Before we get to that, though, we should quickly discuss the cascading reels feature.
As with most MegaWays games, there is a cascading mechanic at work in this game. Every win you land will see winning symbols removed and replaced by new ones, in what is essentially a re-spin mode. You will also note that there is a special reel between the two main reel sets. This can add symbols to the second to sixth reels and seldom plays a huge role in determining wins.
You will note that there are two tribal leaders next to the reels. When red urns land on the reels, the red tribal leader’s multiplier will increase by 1x to 3x. When the blue leader’s urn appears on the reels, his multiplier will increase by the same amount.
These multipliers will then apply to any wins which feature the relevant wild symbols. Wins which contain multiple wilds will see their values multiplied against one another for a mega win. Once you lose, the multipliers are reset.
The free spin bonus in Survivor MegaWays is triggered by three or more scatters. Every scatter you locate offers you 5 spins to start with. Note that if you had any wild multipliers in play before the bonus was triggered (on the same spin), then you will get to start the mode with those in play.
Once the bonus begins, you will get to enjoy those spins. Moreover, the wild multipliers do not reset following a loss. They are uncapped, too, which means that they could rise to epic values.
The spin bonus can be retriggered with additional scatters, just as you might expect. Three or more scatters will add another five spins to your tally with this eventuality.
