Robin Hood: Shifting Riches Slot Review
Robin Hood: Shifting Riches was first released back in 2011. Despite its age, it was one of the first NetEnt slots to be developed for mobile gamers, using what was then known as NetEnt Touch software. Today, the game is still popular with NetEnt fans, even if its Shifting Reels features and other goodies are no longer as original or unique as they once were.
Since this game debuted, NetEnt has repurposed several of its features – including the titular Shifting Reels mechanic – into other games, but this remains the slot which started it all. Naturally, the game is themed on Robin Hood, and despite not being a progressive jackpot title, it gives you ample opportunities to win top prizes. Let us find out more as we dive deeper into Robin Hood: Shifting Riches.
How to Play Robin Hood: Shifting Riches
Robin Hood: Shifting Riches has an RTP of 96.8%, and that is still very respectable today. As you can imagine, it was unheard of when the slot debuted. A medium volatile effort from NetEnt, this game offers 5 reels and 20 lines to bet on, with stakes costing anything from 0.20 per spin, up to 100.00 a bet.
Prizes are non-progressive but worth up to 5,000x a bet in this game.
Robin Hood’s Merry Men are the thematic (and best paying) symbols in the NetEnt release. They include Maid Marion, Robin, Friar Tuck, Little John, and an unnamed knight. That said, the high playing cards (which pay less) tend to appear far more frequently and come out in number.
On the upside, there are plenty of top goodies to help you scrape together wins. The animated Robin Hood character adds a bit of gloss to the theme, too.
- Wild – The Robin Hood title logo is this game’s wild symbol. The wild cannot serve up cash prizes but can help you scrap together wins on the lines by replacing money bags and free spin icons when they show up.
- Scatter – These icons are simply displayed as signposts with a block of text on them. They only appear on the third to fifth reels in the feature and can add additional spins to your tally. They do not pop up in the main round.
- Bonus Symbol – Collect money bags in treasure chests under the reels. Once four are accumulated, the treasure chest will unlock and trigger a free spin bonus. Now, here is the good thing. This game has a sort of primitive memory setting, so even if you leave the game and come back, any money bags you have accumulated in Robin Hood: Shifting Reels (and haven’t used) “should” still be there for your next adventure.
Game Rules
Following any win in this game, the Shifting Reels mode comes into its own. This fifth reel will move away (to the right), and a new one will pop up before the first one.
Win again, and you will get a 2x multiplier applied, followed by a 3x multiplier for another wins, and then a 5x multiplier for a fourth consecutive win. Fail to land a prize, and the multiplier resets to 1x, and the base game resumes.
Once triggered via the money bags, this bonus allows you to click a treasure chest to see the value of the money bags. One of Robin’s Merry Men will be selected as an extra wild. You will get 10 spins here, with the Shifting Reels mode active throughout the round.
Free spin symbols can appear in this round and add 5 or 10 further games to your tally if you land 2 or 3 of them on the final three reels.
