Arcader Slot Review
Launched way back in 2014, Arcader is one of a handful of 8-bit, retro-style games to debut from Thunderkick. This game features five superbly designed reels, each displaying the types of legendary symbols we would expect to see in a classic slot. Make no mistake about it, though; Arcader is a video slot.
The game does not have a whole lot in terms of theme going on, but the design of its reels adds a 3D aspect to a slot which is predominantly very 2D and old-school in design. Shades of Space Invaders or Galaxian are abundant in this simple, but ultimately fun release. Of course, if you are wondering, the title is loosely based on the classic arcade titles you may have played in the 1970s, 80s or early 90s. A game which you can try that is quite similar is Thunderkick’s Flame Busters.
One thing which is worth noting is the relatively poor jackpot that is up for grabs. However, as most Thunderkick titles are low variance games with petite prizes, we do not want to hold this against the Arcader game, too much.
How to Play Arcader
Arcader gets its name from the arcade, video game-style found on its reels. These include pixelated fruits and sevens. It is bars, oddly enough (not cherries, sevens, or bells) which represent the paying symbols in the game, although these can only drop wins worth 20x a bet. Even though this is a game with an RTP of 96.1% and low volatility, we would expect to be able to win a little more.
Arcader is played over 5 reels and 15 lines. The slot is cheap to play, although, perhaps not as cheap as you might like it to be.
Ultimately, a spin here is going to cost you at least 0.20 a bet, with bets capped at 100.00 a bet.
As you spin the reels of this internet release, it is worth noting that a handful of special symbols have been woven into its design to help you. These include:
- Wild – Wilds appear as “W” symbols and can replace all standard paying symbols. There are other wilds, too, but we will come to those shortly.
- Scatters – Two of them appear in Arcader. These are “B” and “M” symbols. Both activate their own bonuses then they appear three times to five times on the reels.

Arcader Slot Features
There are three features which are worth discussing in Arcader. There is a modified wild which can spice up the gameplay, but there are also two bonus rounds. Let us look at each of these in turn:
Nine free spins are triggered when three, four of five scattered “B” symbols appear on the reels. You will start with a 1x, 3x or 9x multiplier for each set of scatters, respectively. During the round, a randomly triggered sticky wild could spring up on the second, third and/or fourth reels, and it can remain there for the duration of the feature.
A mystery bonus has also been included in Arcader. Three “M” scatters will get things moving. What follows is a straightforward click and win bonus. You will get to choose from a series of symbols, and you will pocket cash prizes with each selection you make until a red cross appears. Start the mode with four or five scatters and you will net 2x or 6x multipliers on those wins, respectively.
